Services

Do I need a permit for electrical work?

In Ontario, most electrical work requires a permit from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). This includes panel upgrades, new circuits, and major renovations. Minor repairs and fixture replacements typically don't require permits. We handle all permit applications as part of our service.

How long does a typical job take?

Job duration varies by scope:

  • Outlet/switch replacement: 30 minutes - 1 hour
  • Light fixture installation: 1-2 hours
  • EV charger installation: 2-4 hours
  • Panel upgrade: 4-8 hours
  • Full home rewiring: 3-5 days

We'll provide a time estimate with your quote.

Do you clean up after the job?

Absolutely! We take pride in leaving your space as clean as (or cleaner than) we found it. Our electricians use drop cloths, clean up all debris, and dispose of old materials and packaging. You shouldn't have to lift a finger.

EV Chargers

What type of EV charger do I need?

For home use, we recommend a Level 2 (240V) charger. It provides 25-50 km of range per hour of charging, fully charging most EVs overnight. The specific charger depends on your vehicle — we can help you choose the right one. Tesla owners need a Tesla Wall Connector or NEMA 14-50 outlet.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Not always. Many homes with 100A or 200A panels have capacity for an EV charger. We assess your panel's available capacity during the quote process. If an upgrade is needed, we can often install a "smart" charger that shares capacity with other loads to avoid a full panel upgrade.

How much does EV charger installation cost?

Basic installations typically range from $500-$1,500 for labor, plus the cost of the charger ($400-$1,200). The final price depends on the distance from your panel, the charger type, and whether any upgrades are needed. We provide free, detailed quotes.

Emergency Service

What constitutes an electrical emergency?

An electrical emergency includes: complete power loss, burning smell from outlets/panels, sparking or arcing, exposed wiring, water near electrical equipment, repeatedly tripping breakers, or hot outlets/switches. When in doubt, call us — we'd rather assess a false alarm than have you risk a fire or shock.

Is there an extra charge for emergency service?

We charge a $150 emergency service call fee, which is waived if you proceed with the repair. Our emergency rates are clearly communicated before we dispatch, and you'll receive a full quote before any work begins. No surprises.

Scheduling

How far in advance should I book?

For non-emergency work, we recommend booking 3-7 days in advance for best availability. However, we often have same-day or next-day appointments available. Emergency service is always available 24/7 with no advance notice needed.

Do I need to be home during the work?

For most jobs, someone 18+ should be present at the start to provide access and discuss the scope. For larger projects, we can arrange for you to provide access and check in periodically. We're fully insured and bonded for your peace of mind.

What if I need to reschedule?

We understand that life happens! Please give us at least 24 hours notice to reschedule at no charge. Same-day cancellations may incur a fee to cover our scheduling costs, but we handle each situation individually.
